Quick Homemade Maple Syrup

This is my family’s favorite maple syrup! We love it with pancakes, waffles, French toast, etc. It tastes so much better than the syrup you buy at the grocery store. I always have the ingredients on hand so fresh, warm syrup is only 5-10 minutes away.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup light corn syrup, like Karo

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tsp maple extract

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  • In a medium-sized pot combine the two sugars, the corn syrup and the water.
  • Bring just to a boil, then remove from heat.
  • Stir in the maple and vanilla* and allow to cool a bit before pouring into a container. Serve warm.

Notes

  • *Be careful adding the vanilla as it will bubble up quite a bit for a second or two.
  • Syrup will stay good in a sealed container in a cool, dark pantry for several months.
  • You can store your homemade syrup in a thoroughly washed, used syrup bottle. Just make sure you have a good funnel for pouring the hot syrup into the container.
