These Blondie bars (we also call them Tongo Bars) are perfect for when the whole soccer team unexpectedly shows up or a bunch of cousins come over for game night. Everyone loves them, they mix up fast and bake for 25 minutes.
You can make these a little fancier by adding nuts or white chocolate chips (details in the notes.) Either way, these Blondie Cookie Bars disappear fast!
Chocolate Chip Blondie Bars

3/4 cup butter (1 1/2 sticks)
2 1/2 cups brown sugar
3 eggs
2 2/3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
2 cups chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350˚ F.
- In the bowl of a mixer, combine the butter and brown sugar. Add the eggs and mix until creamy.
- Add the flour, salt and baking powder to the bowl and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Press the dough evenly onto a standard cookie sheet, then bake for 25 minutes.
- Let cool for at least 15 minutes, then cut into 24 squares.
Notes
- Variations: add 1 cup walnuts or pecans to this recipe and/or swap out 1/2 of the regular chocolate chips for white chocolate chips.
Love these! Also, sometimes I make this recipe but put the dough on partially cooked brownie mix then finish cooking it all to make a cookie brownie thing that is quite a crowd pleaser.
